Death Rallies and Terminal Lucidity

The death rally is a phenomenon that occurs when a critical patient is expected to pass away in a few days. At some point during the final days, the patient will appear to be essentially cured of their ailments. They will eat more, talk more, and even walk around. Then, they die.

There is a sister term terminal lucidity in which the brain suddenly takes control oversevere, irreversible damage or degeneration to the brain. Death rallies and terminal lucidity have both been documented for hundreds of years, but it is inconclusive as to what exactly is going on. You can read more about terminal lucidity here.

I have not experienced a death rally. I imagine that the experience would be very surreal and somewhat eerie, like a classic episode of the Twilight Zone. I think there would be a comfort in saying goodbye to someone one final time.

Death is not something I am afraid of, but I do wonder how it will all pan out. Why do some people see figures or light before passing away? Are they hallucinations or something more? I don't know. I only make clothing.
